With only one week left until Thanksgiving, I've been following the Thanksgiving Planning Schedule posted last week.
Since decorating is key for this week before Thanksgiving, I wanted to share a few ideas to decorate different areas of your home as you prepare guests for your big dinner.
Decorating doesn't have to be a huge deal to be fabulous. In fact, there are some really easy ways to make things beautiful without a lot of fuss. Here are some ideas.
Christmas Decor
I find it nice to have the Christmas tree up and decorated during Thanksgiving Dinner. It's always a beautiful focal point and gets people feeling festive. I know that many people wait until the Thanksgiving weekend to decorate their tree, but I've found that before Thanksgiving makes the decorating easier for my big dinner.
I love to incorporate silver and gold to create an elegant scene for the holidays. My Prince Flocked Christmas tree is probably my most favorite of my trees. The ornaments add a touch of sparkle and once Thanksgiving is over, I go all out with making my rooms sing for Christmas. This tree has a combination of old and new. I've linked some of the decor used in this room below.
Drink Station Ideas
Having a drink station is an amazing way to welcome guests. According to designer, Petah Bashano, a side table can be turned into an amazing entryway cocktail or mocktail station to welcome guests when they enter your home. You can see more of Petah's brilliant ideas for an entryway here.
Flower Centerpieces
Designing your own table centerpiece is an option if you want something simplistic, beautiful and unique for your table. It doesn't have to be expensive or elaborate. A simple vase arranged with stems makes a lovely addition to the table.
Tablescape Design
Tablescapes are a beautiful way to bring your guests into your own illusion. They can be whimsical, warm, eclectic, vintage, themed, and so much more. It's so much fun to experiment with different styles. My personal style incorporates vintage with modern, and I almost always add splashes of gold or silver as accents. Your style could be more of a simplistic approach. Whatever style you choose, a tablescape should welcome your guests into your very illusion, your world. Here's something to help you get started.
These tablescapes are also amazing ideas for how faux cakes can be used in your centerpieces.
In a Nutshell
Thanksgiving decorating can be as simple as you want it to be. Decorating with some early Christmas decor is a great way to add decor, since you'll be using it going forward in the season. It's also a great visual to add festivity. Also, consider creating a small cocktail or mocktail station welcome guests. Create an easy, simplistic centerpiece for your table and entryway. Welcome your guests to the table with a tablescape that creates an illusion or tells your story. I've included resources to help spark ideas for each of these.
