These 3 Ideas Will Make Home Comfy and Luxurious

Planning your décor around a theme is a trendy way to elevate your home from basic to breathtaking. Themes aren't just about one element. They're about taking an idea and creating the ambiance that works well with your personality. But when you combine the things that bring coziness and down home comfort with a little luxurious elevation, the results can make you feel amazing!

Pretty much any theme will benefit from the addition of a focal point, or subtle décor enhancement to uplift or refresh the look. However, if you love when your home feels cozy yet you can't get enough of those fashionable, posh details, you could find yourself going a little cray trying to create that sense of balance.

You may find yourself wavering between plush couches on one hand, and sophisticated or formal elements like candelabras and mirrored bar carts.

I have some small suggestions for you with just a few tips that will help you bridge the gap between cozy and fabulous!

Careful placement and attention to detail are the keys to successful themed decor, but if you have good intentions and a tendency to procrastinate with decorating, here are a few easy tips to keep your .

Here are my top 3 top tips for bringing themes of comfort and luxury to home!

Tip 1

Get Your Luxurious Mindset In Gear

Luxury is a state of mind. That's a quote by American stylist and fashion designer, L'Wren Scott.  I totally agree that to get the feel of luxury in your life, you have to think luxuriously (and that differs for everyone).

One way to get the luxurious mindset is to make it a point to host a couple social gatherings this year, maybe two or three during the year. Having guests over for a dinner party or other small gathering prompts us to set things in a more “proper” way. We’re a bit more attentive to detail when we invite people over.

Hosting a soiree at home can give your home a wonderfully elegant feel that you may find leaving you with an overwhelming euphoric sensation when t's over.

The idea is all about keeping those vibes, and it doesn't have to be complicated.

Start small, like setting the table. Toss that tired vase of limp, cut flowers, or ,bowl of uninspired fruit and give your table a lift.

Here are a few ideas.

  • Add fresh flowers to the table
  • Use elements of varying heights on flat surfaces
  • Add accents that are bronze, silver, or gold (trays, vases, serveware etc.)
  • Consider a centerpiece that wows you and your guests

When I'm over thinking a design or my decor in general, I often have to remember to KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid). It's how I keep myself grounded when I'm flooded with a ton of ideas.

You can keep it simple and still have extraordinary room. A centerpiece that's out of the ordinary, yet simplistic will take your decor over the top without taking away from anything.

Surprise your guests with your own style by using elements that are...let's say... interesting.

I don't know about you, but knowing that I'm having guests a little more often helps me to keep things more “together.” It's also a great way to extend the longevity of that euphoric after party feeling that serves as my motivation to keep it up when after the guests are gone!

Tip 2

Lighten Things Up

I would have said light things up, but it seemed a bit cheesy.

At any rate, as I was saying before, any home can be a place of respite and comfort with only the simplest of additions.

For instance, lighting. Dim lights set a relaxed ambiance, and if you don't have a fireplace or a light dimmer, try fire lights. Fire lights not only create a dim light in a dark setting, they also give a comforting flame effect.

Don’t forget old fashioned light de flicker (in my not so French accent). Candles are still the all time go to for comfort in a room. Why else do people insist on setting them around their bathtubs?

Creating a warm and welcoming setting is just what candles do.  Traditional pillars, classically simple jars and cupcake candles look stunning on a table alone or paired with a few vintage (or fashion) books, flowers, and a small antique mirror (or something else you love).

Tip 3

The Best of Both Worlds

I have to say, for myself, that I love both a welcoming feel, alongside that feeling of elegance and luxury? If that sounds like you, the good news is that you don’t have to choose.

Your home can exude these attractive qualities in combination with each other. For a perfect accompaniment to your unique style, and the homeyness of instant warmth and comfort, go for decor that makes you feel the way you want to feel.

Luxury isn’t just about how things look, it’s more about how you feel. Try elements with texture like fur throws or rugs to give you that plush, cozy feeling. The aroma of rich, soft vanilla cake or the enticing perfumes of a luxury scented candle add that extra something that soothes your senses and sets the stage for pure opulence.

Adding a few extra elements that make you feel warm and cozy can give a feeling of security and being "put together." Seriously, you won’t know whether to kick off your shoes in exchange for a fluffy robe and slippers, or reach for the champagne flutes. Either way, your home-sweet-home will be sweeter than ever with the addition of elements that add comfort and luxurious vibes.
